What fertilpot does not do
This is an example of what girdled roots look like inside. Notice how the roots that were circling around in the original container have grown larger and choked each other off. This will result in plant mortality as the plant continues to grow larger. Fertilpot will not create a circling root system.
This squash seed was planted 5 days ago. This is a Fertilpot, not a cell tray plug! It took 3 days to germinate. You can see that the first true leaves have yet to emerge, but the roots are already well through the wall of the wood-fiber pot.
